Summer* Youth Volunteer Projects

Each summer, we offer several projects for our youth volunteers. We make it easy to find these on our calendar. Just look for the keyword 'Summer*'.

Need a project for your group or club (15 or more volunteers)? Just answer a few questions about your group (# of volunteers, date you want to volunteer, etc) and we will match you with just the right project. You can also request that our staff come to your class or club meeting to do a special new volunteer orientation just for your group.

New Volunteer Orientations for Youth

A volunteer orientation is required for ALL volunteers participating in our projects. This can be done online or at one of our one-hour, in-person sessions called Getting Involved 101.

About Online Orientations & Youth: If you choose to do the online orientation, each individual member of your family will need to go through it. This means that if a family of four decides to volunteer, the orientation will be gone through four times. NOTE: Due to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998, children must be at least 13 to register an online account. Families with children under 13 must attend one of our in-person orientations.

Minimum Age

Based on the rules of our partner organizations or the type of volunteer work, (i.e. will there be sharp tools or heavy labor) we determine a minimum age for each project. This is listed in
each project description.

The minimum age for all project listed under our Summer* program is 12.

Families & Youth Under 16

We have projects that can accommodate kids as young as 8, but we ask that no child under the age of 16 attend a project or orientation without parent supervision.

16 & 17-year-olds

Volunteers who are 16 or 17 and want to attend projects without a parent must bring a signed Youth Volunteer Waiver Form with them to every project they attend.

Youth Groups

We are happy to have youth clubs, classes and groups volunteer with us. However, we expect each group to be chaperoned by responsible adults. For youth under 12, one adult must be present for every five children; for youth 13 and over, one adult must be present for every ten children.
