Guest Readers for Read Across the Globe

WE NEED YOUR HELP as a GUEST READER in a K-8th grade classroom! You will be joining an international effort to break the Guinness World Record for most children read-to within a 24-hour period!
• The event: "Read Across the Globe"-- Barbara Bush Literacy Foundation has partnered with HandsOn’s parent organization, Points of Light, in an initiative to highlight the importance of early literacy and reading to children throughout their development.
• Time commitment: on Mon, Oct. 19th—for approx. a 2-hour timeframe. Opportunity details for each school specifies the start & end time. You will also receive an email which confirms the times when you register.
• Participants: YOU! + school staff, K-8th grade students, & 220 other community volunteers in 11 schools across the greater Phoenix area!
• The Book (provided): Farmer Will Allen and the Growing Table, by Jacqueline Briggs Martin

Two Steps: CREATE A HANDSON ACCOUNT ($25 activation fee is WAIVED for this event), then use your username/password to SIGN UP for a specific school. You will know you've suceeded when you receive an email that includes the date, time, & address of the school where you're reading. If your availability changes, please use that email to remove yourself from the opportunity so we have an accurate roster of participants.
