Summer Kid Connection at the Watkins Shelter
Volunteers will spend quality time with children at the Watkins overflow homeless shelter. Arts & crafts, reading, writing, games, and fun, literacy-based activities are par for this project. Optional water activities may also be included. We will be closing out the summer daytime watkins projects with a back to school project. Donated school supplies will be accepted until the last summer project date of July 26th. The shelter is also always accepting donated clothing for youth and adults. Please feel free to bring any donated school supplies or clothing with you to the project.
This is a family friendly volunteer opportunity with the minimum age being 6 with a parent/guardian, and 16 without a parent/guardian. All volunteers' ages 16 & 17 that wish to attend without a parent MUST bring a signed Youth Volunteer Waiver to each volunteer opportunity.
By signing up for volunteer opportunities and not attending, you may be depriving someone else the chance to participate as well as the volunteer opportunity of much-needed support. Please note that in an effort to accommodate volunteers who sign up for opportunitiess by choice, HandsOn does not accept court ordered volunteers and will not sign off on any court-related documents.
