Read To Me at UMOM New Day Center
Read To Me volunteers provide quality adult-child time, and will enjoy one-on-one activities together in a recreational setting at the United Methodist Outreach Ministries' family homeless shelter. The children are split into groups based on age and have varying skill levels. The participating youth range in age from 4 to 17 years old. Volunteers will get to have fun and make a difference in a child's day!
The minimum age to volunteer is 8 years old. Volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the volunteer opportunity. All volunteers ages 16 and 17 who wish to attend without a parent MUST bring a signed Youth Waiver to each volunteer opportunity.
By signing up for volunteer opportunities and not attending, you may be depriving someone else the chance to participate and the volunteer opportunity of much-needed support. Please note that in an effort to accommodate volunteers who sign up for opportunities by choice, HandsOn does NOT accept court ordered volunteers and will NOT sign off on any court-related documents.
