Love Your Park (Encanto Park)
Enjoy your morning surrounded by the lush greenery of one of Phoenix's most historic parks. Celebrating its 80th year as a valley landmark, Encanto Park needs HandsOn volunteers to engage in gardening projects to help maintain the landscapes throughout.
Monthly recurring gardening may include: dead heading and maintenance of flowerbeds, weeding, leaf removal, and picking up of any surrounding trash. Planting projects include: planting of seasonal flowers and shrubs that will thrive in the Phoenix weather.
Project duties range from the non-technical, such as cleaning various areas of trash, to moderate planting projects. Volunteers are encouraged to perform duties in which they feel comfortable performing. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothes and close toed shoes. A hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are also encouraged. Plan to bring a reuseable water bottle with you as well. We will be meeting in front of the clubhouse prior to each project.
The minimum age for this volunteer opportunity is 12 years old with parent. All volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent. Those aged 16 and 17 who wish to attend the project without a parent MUST bring a signed Youth Volunteer Waiver to each volunteer opportunity.
By signing up for volunteer opportunities and not attending, you may be depriving someone else the chance to participate and the volunteer opportunity of much-needed support. Please note that in an effort to accommodate volunteers who sign up for opportunities by choice, HandsOn does not accept court ordered volunteers and will not sign off on any court-related documents.
