Outreach Programming Team
Do you have the desire to CREATE, PLAN, and MARKET EVENTS? Friends of the Avondale Libraries and Recreation work alongside community partners, leaders, friends, and organizations to help implement lasting and memorable programs and services for your local libraries and the community we support. We are looking for volunteers who have a distinct drive to make a difference in the community, to have their voice be heard, and to witness positive change to better fulfill the needs and wants of the residences of Avondale. We need your help in engaging the youth and young adults through your creative thinking and innovative ideas to implement and promote sustainable programming for EVERYONE! You are the driving force! WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU? You will gain valuable leadership experience, socialize with passionate, like-minded individuals, all the while working towards a greater good! We are flexible with timing to suit your availability. WHO ARE WE? Friends of the Avondale Libraries and Recreation is a 501(c)3 non-profit. Our mission is to support the City of Avondale’s libraries, recreation, parks and trails in a way that expands and improves resources and services to benefit our community. We supplement library, parks, and recreation funding to help provide and promote services that tax dollars may not reach. We do a variety of fundraisers and activities throughout the year and offer plenty of volunteering opportunities for our members. We know how important libraries and recreation are to a community and want to make sure that they are always able to provide wonderful resources to local citizens. DUTIES: Assist in developing educational and recreational programs for multiple audiences to inspire and empower the youths in the community. Make recommendations for volunteer and service programs for improvement and to implement Develop volunteer service activities designed to meet unmet needs; Work with volunteers and partners in developing outreach and interpretive programming Meet weekly as a team to share ideas, begin planning process, and give feedback on how to execute ideas CONTACT: Team will serve under the guidance of Friends of the Avondale Libraries and Recreation’s board members, and will be directly supervised by one of the Lead Volunteers of Avondale Public Libraries. A peer learning and team environment will be encourage through a weekly face-to-face meeting to discuss goals, project ideas, and implementation.
