Recycle Your Bicycle for a Kid in Foster Care (Referral)
Recycle your Bicycle is a project of the Arizona Association for Foster and Adoptive Parents (AZAFAP) and together with hundreds of volunteers and organizations join together to collect, refurbish (or “re-cycle”) and distribute bicycles for children and young adults in the Arizona foster care system for the holidays. Our goal is to deliver 1000 “like new” bicycles to kids in foster care during the holidays. We have delivered more than 3,500 bicycles since the program’s inception. We gather gently used bikes from the community that are no longer used or have been outgrown. This program takes those unused resources and puts them to good use to help children who do not have access to a bicycle. There more than 19,000 children in Arizona’s foster care system who are in a situation that is no fault of their own and it may be their first bike ever and enables them some freedom to travel to school, to play, etc. We are a 100% volunteer organization.
