Recruiting Docent/Guides for Heard Museum (Referral)
The Heard Museum is seeking volunteers to serve as docents or guides to present the art and historical artifacts of the museum to visitors. A class of Las Guias ("guides" in Spanish) is forming for the fall of 2018 and orientation sessions are scheduled for August and September. Each class member will participate in classroom education led by American Indian educators concerning the tribes of the Southwest and all will be afforded individual mentoring on presenting the exhibits in the museum. The classroom and onsite training is very thorough and, once qualified, the new Las Guias will be asked to serve shifts of three hours twice a month. Winter visitors are welcomed into the class and accommodation is made for their travel. Las Guias also will become part of the social fabric of the museum via The Guild which organizes social events and trips.
