Big Brothers Big Sisters - Mentoring Opportunities (Referral)
BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF CENTRAL ARIZONA
ABOUT US: As a leader in one-to-one youth service for more than a century, the Big Brothers Big Sisters mission is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one relationships with mentors that have a measurable impact on youth and contribute to a healthier, stronger community.
ABOUT THE KIDS: The youth in our program range between the ages of 6-18 and come from a wide range of backgrounds, interests and experiences. What they share in common is the desire to have someone special in their lives with whom they can hang out and have fun!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We are seeking men to become Big Brothers throughout central Arizona, and women who reside in the West valley and Central Phoenix to become Big Sisters.
THE PROGRAMS: Meet with your "Little" at least twice a month for a period of 1 year in any of the following programs:
COMMUNITY BASED: Hang out with a child in your own neighborhood to do things you both enjoy. Sample activities include going to the park, movies, bowling, hiking, cooking, sporting events, etc. You choose the days and times that you meet up according to your schedule!
SITE BASED: Mentor a child at a local elementary school for just 1 hour per week during the child's lunch break. Contact us for the locations of the schools we are currently partnered with.
COUPLE/FAMILY MATCH: A couple or entire family can be matched to a child in your own neighborhood. Invite the child to join you for your regular family outings at least twice a month - share the fun with your loved ones!

Anyone can be a mentor - we are seeking volunteers from a variety of backgrounds and skill-sets who are willing to share their experiences with a child in need of a positive role model!

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 18 years old
- Valid Arizona drivers license and auto insurance (exceptions include students and military)
- No D.U.I. within the past 5 years.
- Must be able to pass a background check
