MLK 2018: Trailblazing at South Mountain Park

South Mountain Park is one of the largest urban parks in North America. Designated as a Phoenix Point of Pride, the park is a preserve of over 25 miles of native desert vegetation and landscape. It features over 50 miles of trails for cycling, hiking, and horseback riding throughout its beautiful scenery, and is home to over 300 plant species and 150 animal species.

We are looking for outdoorsy volunteers that can assist the park with ongoing projects to restore and preserve its beauty. Duties such as: tree trimming, general clean up, and maintenance will occur park-wide. Individual lookouts will be in need of graffiti removal and trash pick-up as needed. The trailheads may also require some light trimming and painting as determined by park staff.

The minimum age for this volunteer opportunity is 15 with a parent or guardian. The minimum age without a parent or guardian is 18. By signing up for volunteer opportunities and not attending, you may be depriving someone else the chance to participate as well as the volunteer opportunity of much-needed support. Please note that in an effort to accommodate volunteers who sign up for opportunities by choice, HandsOn does NOT currently accept court ordered volunteers and will NOT sign off on any court-related documents.

The opportunity date and time you are looking for is no longer available.
