Chalk Art Festival Assistant (Referral)

Chalk it up to one of the most colorful experiences in the city. On Saturday, April 12, thousands of attendees and more than a dozen amazing mural artists will participate in the Vestar Chalk Art Festival, presented by Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the public can grab a piece of chalk or two and participate in the free event as well as watch professional artists create 8-foot murals in a variety of themes throughout the shopping centers.

Tempe Marketplace: 2000 E. Rio Salado Pkwy., Tempe, Arizona
Desert Ridge Marketplace: 21001 N. Tatum Blvd, Scottsdale, Arizona

VOLUNTEER SHIFTS
Saturday 10am-1pm, 1pm-3pm, 3pm-6pm (2 people for each job, each shift, each location)
INFORMATION TABLE / KIDSZONE TABLE (2 volunteers each shift, each location)
The information / KidsZone table will be the first greeting area for attendees that want to participate in the KidsZone, or participate with their own mural. The info table will have SAACA Flyers and Calendars, and Email Registration forms. The Information / KidsZone tables will also be the first point of check in for families, individuals and kids who want to participate in the collaborative murals. Here, volunteers will check out chalk tubs to children / and aid children in washing hands. Each child or artist will receive a chalk tub with 10 pieces of chalk, and one blending towel. When children or the artist is done with their mural, children will bring chalk basket back to the KidsZone table, and provide them with several baby wipes to clean up the chalk.

KIDSZONE ARTIST ASSISTANTS & INFORMATION TABLE (2 volunteers each shift, each location)
Assistant KidsZone artists with creation of murals – assist children, families and individual artists interested in participating in instructional processes for participating in KidsZone. Each artist / child will receive a tub of chalk and be directed to a designated space to participate in the creation of their own mural / art piece. KidsZone artist administrator will direct mural assistants to chalk art boundaries, and designated spaces for participation. KidsZone assistants also aid in maintaining the cleanliness and order of the chalk art area. Volunteers in this area will help direction children and artists to the designated spaces for art creation, as well as provide information to participants. Volunteers here can also help in the creation of mural outlines and flow of traffic and
