Our VISTA members are dedicated to serving their communities while building strong relationships with staff and local residents. HandsOn VISTA members have made a meaningful impact at partner sites by increasing in-kind and cash donations, growing volunteer engagement, launching new programs, and strengthening community connections.

What is Americorp's VISTA?

Established in 1965, AmeriCorps VISTA is a federal national service program dedicated to fighting poverty by supporting nonprofits, public agencies and local governments. VISTA members help build the capacity of organizations by creating or expanding programs that empower individuals and communities to overcome poverty.

What do VISTA’s do?

Why host through HandsOn?

HandsOn knows how to craft positions and build bridges between host sites in need of AmeriCorps resources and recruit individuals who are looking to serve their communities and country in a meaningful way.

HandsOn will manage the heavy load of having a VISTA member:

the AmeriCorps federal grants
Recruitment of applicants (sites decide on their final choice of candidate)
Before service onboarding of members
Required training of VISTA Members throughout their service year
Tracking on VISTA qualitative and quantitative progress

Host sites do the easy part:

Reap the benefits of a full time VISTA member
provide necessary administrative supervision to complete the goals and objectives of the project
Gain sustainability of projects within the organization
