Researcher (Referral)
Under general direction of the P.O.P.S.I.C.L.E. Executive Director or designee, the P.O.P.S.I.C.L.E. Researcher searches the internet and other sources for news and articles related to feeding issues that are of interest to P.O.P.S.I.C.L.E. Author verifies the accuracy of the articles and obtains permission to reprint the article on the P.O.P.S.I.C.L.E. website.
Specific Responsibilities:
Researcher uses search tools on the Internet including Web search engines, metasearch engines, Web directories and specialty search services to find articles that relate to feeding issues and are of interest to P.O.P.S.I.C.L.E.; Researcher identifies articles of interest and researches the authors to determine their credentials and accuracy of the article; Sends qualified articles to the Executive Director for consideration; Once an article is approved to be included on the P.O.P.S.I.C.L.E. website or in the P.O.P.S.I.C.L.E. newsletter, the researcher contacts the author or publisher to obtain permission to reprint the article.
Qualifications Needed:
Strong internet research knowledge including understanding of Web search engines, metasearch engines, Web directories, specialty search tools, and research methodology; Understanding of the P.O.P.S.I.C.L.E. mission and the medical specialties that have relevance to feeding issues; Ability to contact authors and publishers to discuss a particular article and the P.O.P.S.I.C.L.E. mission; Represents P.O.P.S.I.C.L.E. in a courteous and professional manner; Ability to keep all interested parties abreast of findings and meet deadlines and work independently as well as part of a team; Requires computer skills.
Frequency of Volunteering and Estimated Time of Participation:
Quarterly, 4 hours plus.
Up to 4 volunteers for this position.
